A fantastic coffee shop was a great atmosphere, ample seating, patio setup, relaxed environment, and a bakery "attached". One of the only places thats served sparking water with my Cortado (btw sparking water is served to cleanse the palate). We tried the Lavender Black pepper latte from their Spring menu and it was very well made. Perfect amount of lavender and the black pepper was a fantastic addition. Would high recommend hitting this place up for coffee, a bakery item and just taking it easy on the patio.
Good coffee and food choices. We did t try the cranberry toast and it is good , Avocado toast was good , chicken salad sandwich was good. The Ibis bakery almond croissant is always my favorite. The chocolate croissant is good but I wished they warmed it.
Our last visit was in 2017, and Black Dog Coffee doesn't disappoint. We live out of town, and I wanted to recognize them for continuing to provide wonderful food, amazing service, and a great space to relax and have some breakfast. The service and atmosphere are amazing, relaxed, and casual on our Saturday morning visit. There was a line when we walked in, but the staff kept the line moving quickly and efficiently. The regular hangout for locals, we chose Black Dog over the franchise and chain places to support a Lenexa staple. We ordered 2 hot drinks and 2 breakfast items. The price reflects the ingredients being served. Staff pride shows as they serve the community, providing the local vibe along with outstanding service. Best coffee in Shawnee & Lenexa... With the Best Crew!!!!! And they have an amazing bread!! This is our spot every week!! They’re very friendly and their chai Latte cold is amazing!!!! Their croissant and the walnut cranberry toast; are our favs You have to come and they have treats for your dogs It is busy but that’s why they’re so gooooooodd!!! Worth the wait and if not take it home is the best
We have wanted to try Ibis Bakery for some time. Once I found out that Black Dog was connected, we went! The coffee was great. I had a honey and lavender latte. We also had an almond Croissant and a Pan au chocolate Croissant. The almond Croissant was the best one I've ever had! We also grabbed a Cheese Slipper loaf for later. Went to the Grand Street Ibis location. Delicious as always!
The hot matcha soy latte was so good, and my friend liked her vanilla latte with regular milk. There are local products when you first walk in, like Messner Bee Farm & Messenger Coffee. Sometimes samples of the baked goods, such as lemon pound cake & almond croissant, which are all delicious! A great place to bring a laptop and work from with free wi-fi and tables.
Black dog is a not-so-hidden gem. I wish I lived here in Kansas City so I could spend more time here. Its a beautiful place, with kind people and a great atmosphere. The pastry I got was delicious, a raspberry and lime desert pastry. I also ordered a regular iced latte, which was also delicious. The espresso was delicious! Very warm feeling, not too sharp or bitter. Over all very nice place and I would absolutely reccomend giving it a try.
Blackdog is my safe place. I tend to get there right at open, enjoy the cafe while it isn’t busy. They have secluded seating that is perfect for somebody like me who kinda hides from the crowd. The staff always takes such good care of me. They’re slowly remembering my name, I don’t feel judged for getting my overly sweet lattes, I get beautiful art on my drinks, their coffee cake makes me super happy, and I’m glad to be supporting any place but Starbucks honestly. People complain about prices but you spend more at a big corporation coffee place and get less than a quarter of the attention in your drink. I love this team of employees. I appreciate them and their hard work and I’m thankful to have such a cozy place to escape to.
